Light at the end of the tunnel
We have now finished all of the framing, so we are ready to do the drywall. I think we may need more, as what we have looks like almost enough, but not quite. But one long day and there will be no more bare wood. We insulated the entire ceiling for sound, to keep the upstairs neighbours from bothering our patrons. Just need to insulate over the front and it is done.
The electricians are almost done - going to be 3 days with 2 guys to get everything right. Had to remove all of the old wiring, god knows how long some of it had been there. Also had to install the fixtures for the track lighting and we are putting some pot lights in front. We had to re-do all of the basement lighting and we even have a light in the bathroom now! Just need to add the exit signs and emergency lighting and run some wire for a light over the sign and it is done.
And we still have the floor to do, but that should not be too bad. We think we can salvage the original tile floor, which is pretty cool, since it is very old and unique. Ripping it up or covering it over seemed too much of a shame. We shall see, though, since it may not clean up as well as we want, forcing us to laminate over it anyway.
So if all goes well, we are still on track to open in March. Drop dead is still April 10th when we have the big opening for our local student show.
Stay tuned…
