Call for Submissions: Brown Cities

Call to Artists: Urban Evironmentalism – Brown Cities / January 2009

galleryDK is accepting submissions for a group photographic show examining environmental initiatives and challenges in the urban landscape. Photographers are invited to submit work and an artist’s statement that investigates the browning of the urban environment. It the wake of increasing gas prices, emphasis on carbon footprints, and the initiative with recycling this show is focusing on what still needs to be done to reduce the negative impact pollution and its decay on urban life. Make the taken-for-granted visible.

Artists are asked to submit a maximum of three works in jpeg format on CD and an artist’s statement, as well as a $25.00 submission fee to “Brown Cities” c/o galleryDK at either submissions@gallerydk.com or 1332 Queen Street West, Toronto ON M6K 1L4. Deadline for submissions is December 15th, 2008.

galleryDK is pleased to host the continuing exhibition of A WORLD ABANDONED, the new photography exhibition from the DK Photo Group. Featuring shots taken in old Europe during the filming of the television series photoXplorers coming soon to Bravo!Canada, the exhibition features a glimpse into the obsolescence and ruin of old Europe. The exhibition runs through October 26, 2008.
