galleryDK : Submissions
galleryDK presents work that refers to all experiences of urban life. Photographic or photo-based art examining, but not limited to, issues of social and urban pertinence such as transportation, consumerism, poverty, built environments and the urban space shall be considered for exhibition.
galleryDK is booked for the CONTACT Toronto Photography Festival 2010. The owners will be mounting a show of their own work. We thank you for your interest.
Call to Artists: August Wall Rental
In August 2009, we are offering 4 portions of our gallery, as a sectional rental. Each space is approximately 16 feet long by 10 feet high. The theme of this show is "After Dark", which you are free to interpret however you see fit. We invite submissions from photo-based artists wishing to be a part of this show.
The fee, if accepted is $300. Show will run from July 30th to August 30th, with an opening reception on Thursday July 30th. Please submit as below.
1) The exact images (CD or email only, JPEG no more than 800 pixels on the long side) you intend to show, with both image and finished framed sizes. Please include your artist's statement and CV.
2) $25 Non-refundable submission fee payable by cheque (to "galleryDK") or Paypal (to info@gallerydk.com). If accepted, this fee will be applied to the monthly rental fee.
3) Appreciated but not required, would be a statement of intent outlining your rationale for the subject matter you have chosen and your photographic vision. A potential hanging plan that coherently exhibits the work as it relates to each other would also be good.

Call to Artists: 2nd Annual PhotoLab Group Show - November 2009
In December 2008, galleryDK hosted PhotoLab which turned into a runaway success. With close to 100 artists and 265 pieces on the walls, it was a show to be remembered. Thus, we are very happy to announce 2nd Annual PhotoLab Group Show in November 2009.
While we were proud to hang everything that was submitted, this year we are going to have to introduce the possibility of a jurying process. As we expect this year's PhotoLab to be even bigger than last year, we just don't have room for many more pieces. And due to the amount of work involved, we have to institute a submission fee for this year's show.
As before, there is no theme, but the show is restricted to photography and photo-based art. The submission fee is $15 and that again allows artists to submit up to 3 images. We heard your comments from last year, and thus the size constraints for this year will be a finished size of 16x20 (or 20x16). What you do within that frame is your decision. We also ask that all images be framed with glass. No clip frames, no mounting, no bare canvas, no resin.
We will be accepting submissions during the month of September only. Bring your framed and ready-to-hang pieces, along with the non-refundable $15 submission fee to the gallery on the following days only:
September 3rd - 6th from 12pm - 5pm
September 10th - 13th from 12pm - 5pm
September 17th - 20th from 12pm - 5pm
September 24th - 27th from 12pm - 5pm
We will not accept submissions on any other days.
Artists will be notifed of their acceptance by October 18th. We are hoping to hang at least one image from each artist, but based on expected submissions, we cannot make any guarantees. Any artist shipping from overseas, we ask that you please contact us first to arrange it.

Call to Artists: Ongoing
We are now programming for 2010 and invite submissions for exhibition. Your proposal must include the following:
1) 10 images (CD or email only, JPEG, 150-300dpi, no more than 800 pixels in the longest direction) of the work you intend to show or in the same aesthetic of the intended work.
2) Artist's Statement and C.V.
3) A statement of intent outlining your rationale for the subject matter you have chosen and your photographic vision. As well as, a potential hanging plan that coherently exhibits the work as it relates to each other.
